My son was referred by the NUH Psychologist to iPEAK@MCYC for the specialist intervention programmes because he was illiterate even at the age of 6+. He not only struggled with recognising letters and numbers and understanding simple instructions in English, his cognitive ability was also very underdeveloped.
After about a year or more of attending iPEAK’s specialist English, Math and STAR classes, my son was able to understand simple English instructions, write a few simple words and form basic sentences verbally. His early numeracy skills and mathematical concepts continue to show steady improvement. Even his cognitive skills such as planning, organising and reasoning skills have improved tremendously. He is a lot less impulsive and less random in his responses and is able to think before he starts his work and while he is doing an activity. I am so happy to see how much he has progressed with MCYC like he has never been before with other kind of intervention support previously. I am very pleased and happy with the support given by iPEAK Centre even though there are still many challenges ahead of us. Most importantly, my son loves coming to MCYC for his classes and he is very happy attending classes there.
I want to thank MCYC for the financial support given. I am very grateful to all the teachers and therapists who have helped my son and I in this journey. The staff are very professional, responsible and they provide quality services at iPEAK@MCYC.
